Why the Pretense?

It is unclear exactly what terms Hamas has proposed to Israel towards the resumption of peace in Gaza. The terms for peace that have been proposed by the USA and the sorts of guarantees that have been provided to Israel by some Arab states further are unclear. What is known for sure is the recalcitrance of Netanyahu and Israel towards the resumption of peace in Gaza. But then absent peace in Gaza, can Israel attain to peace?

Absence of peace in Gaza is sufficient grounds for Islamic militancy towards Israel.

If Israel deserves a state in it’s homeland by virtue of the intervention of the ‘United Nations’, because it was displaced from it’s homeland by the Islamic Jihads of the 7th Century, Israel cannot begrudge the Palestinians the same sort of intervention. True, Jerusalem was built up by the ancient tribe of Judah, the ancestors of the Jews. But then to make that happen, Jerusalem was conquered by Judah in the course of the reign of David, who then adopted Jerusalem as his capital. Archaeological history has confirmed the existence of each of David, Solomon, and Jehu, kings of either Judah or the 10 tribes of Israel. Many years after the reign of King David, Nebuchadnezzar the Great, King of Babylon would boast that his conquest of Judah was his very greatest conquest.
