The danger here is that rather than being naturally intellectual, we begin to act intellectual. Being intellectual because that is who we are, always is right. Acting intellectual can make us, the intellectuals, the bad guys.
If a guy feels intimidated in getting to know a girl, that does not make him a bad guy, just a guy who needs to make a decision — to attempt to be as intellectual as he can, demand a dumbing down, which you hitherto had allowed, or walk away from the relationship.
For the intellectual female of course, even the guy who tries can fall short not because he is not intelligent, but because he lacks the preparation, and time is of the essence.
It is important not to belittle the guy who tries but lacks the preparation. Preparation is not just a matter of intelligence, it is also a function of exposure. Put a naturally intelligent person in midst of bad intellectual educational environments and it would be difficult to maximize that natural intellect.
But then again, where there is willingness and love on both sides, a little patience can do wonders for a relationship steeped in such context.
