On America not becoming the ‘bad guy’
Alongside some Nordic and Western European countries, the United States of America has become more cautious in its economic engagement with China. Said caution is justifiable and necessary.
First, the notion that offshoring of manufacturing is, in of itself, beneficial for welfare of the USA increasingly has become questionable. In stated respect, there is evidence that mere offshoring of jobs to China implies China can, absent triggering of any increase to inflation and absent manipulation of its currency value, expand employment within its borders indefinitely. Creation of jobs in China is achieved then, at expense of loss of jobs and increase to income inequality in developed countries, a phenomenon well established to be reality of developed countries here and here as well.
Second, while racism has some presence in most developed countries, it at the very least does not attempt to coerce spiritual beliefs of minorities. In stated respect, it must be assumed that dominance of the world will induce China to attempt to replicate what it considers part of its model for success, namely subjugation of individuality in realm of spiritual beliefs. Existence of ‘Organized Christianity’ in China suffices as evidence.
