Names can Change, Descriptions, they Tend to be Inviolate

uppose we are at the beginning of time, and the animal with form of what we currently label, ‘cat’ were labelled, ‘dog’. Well, we would call what we now refer to as cats, dogs and would not be any worse off from absence of the realization they could have been labelled, ‘cats’.

Suppose, however, that, at beginning of time, it is agreed that an animal that ‘meows’ has label of ‘cat’. Try as we might, unless we discard the origin time agreement, we would not be able to relabel ‘cats’, ‘dogs’.

For concreteness, consider human names. Suppose a child is born and is named, ‘Abel’. Suppose that, later, the child changes his name to ‘son of God’. Assume you come across two different documents, one reading Abel as the name for subject matter of the document, the other reading, son of God. Absent a priori knowledge, on face of it, the documents seemingly pertain to two different persons.

Consider, however, that upon addition of the description, ‘Abel, second son of Adam and Eve’, or ‘son of God, second son of Adam and Eve’, that right away, there is arrival at the realization that ‘Abel’ and ‘son of God’ are one and the same person.

It is ‘Descriptions’ that are sources of uniqueness for either of names or labels.

we witness ‘descriptions’ as important characteristics of birth certificates? Absolutely. Absent enumeration of ‘father’s name’, ‘mother’s name’, ‘date of birth’, and ‘place of birth’, a birth certificate is lacking in any viability. In this respect, consider that God Himself provided a ‘birth certificate’ for The Lord Jesus Christ in Christian Scriptures, as follows:

Earthly father: Joseph

Biological Father: Through The Holy Spirit, God, Creator of the Universe

Earthly mother: Mary

Timing of Birth: During the Second (make up) Census ordered by Augustus Caesar

Place of Birth: Bethlehem

The Lesson?

Names have meaning only in context of underlying descriptions.

It was not until God introduced Himself to us as, ‘God is Love’ that we truly began to arrive at understanding of who He is.

ower is capacity for doing work. Power produces Energy, equivalently the Force, which performs work that needs to be done. Absent presence of any force, that is, energy produced by power, the universe is characterized by Inertia. In this respect, while it might not readily be apparent, with the body made up of atoms, you and I are a walking mass of electrostatic energy.

The Power of the force field that is the human body? The Brain — with the heart pumping blood, but the brain dead, there is loss of capacity for movement, that is, arrival at Inertia. The Force that produces the Force Field? Clearly, the Heart.

Is it always the case that power and force coexist, with outcome source of force is not domiciled in power, but rather is connected to power?

Well then, consider the Car. The Engine produces the Power, but cannot, in of itself, move the car. The Force that moves the car? The Transmission. If we consider ships, the Rudder provides the Force, the Engine, the Power. Upon turning of attention to aeroplanes, we find that the Engine provides Power, the Propellers and/or Wings and Flaps, The Force.

It is truth of human existence, while Power produces Force, source of Force is connected to, as such, is not the same as source of Power.

is matter of fact that the universe, or more specifically, time and space is made up of force fields. In this respect, it is straightforward that each of Special and General Relativity are descriptions of character of force fields that guide movements of stars, suns, and planets. Given the same principles govern all of the celestial objects, rationality dictates all of the forces at play are connected to exactly the same Power.

If we apply the principle that we have just developed, in presence of forces, there must be a ‘still present’ power that is source of the force. With vastness of the universe in mind, and with invincibility of oxygen and carbon dioxide in tow, we arrive at necessity of rationality of the conclusion that the Power that is source of all of the force fields in the universe must have character of invincibility. Not that the Power must have capacity for becoming invincible, but rather that ‘invincibility’ is natural state of the Power that powers the universe.

Given the Power that powers the universe has capacity for creation of physical objects, absent capacity for visibility, that is, for some surreal or supernatural physical state, the Power that powers the universe is unable to interact with His physical creation. We arrive then at demand for a physical image, as such arrive at necessity of person of The Lord Jesus Christ as ‘physical surreal image’ of the invincible Living Creator God.

Invincibility of God, and necessity of existence of The Lord Jesus Christ are rationalized by extrapolation of character of Force and Power, as discovered in discipline of Physics.

What then about The Holy Spirit?

ell, five Scriptures demonstrate that what God The Father and The Lord Jesus Christ are to the invincible and physical creation, The Holy Spirit is to man.

“But ye shall receive Power at the coming of The Holy Spirit upon you…(Acts 1:8)”

“For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).”

“And hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through The Holy Spirit which has been given to us (Romans 5:5).”

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2)”

“And we all with unvailed face, the glory of the Lord beholding as in a mirror, to the same image are being transformed, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of The Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18)”

Christian Scriptures — the core of writings through which God has revealed the truth of His essence, that is, His character to us — are unequivocal, to wit, for man, particularly believers in the name of Jesus, The Holy Spirit is source of Power.

If The Holy Spirit is source of Power, it must produce a Force. 2 Timothy 1:7 makes clear the force that is produced by The Holy Spirit is Love.

A Force exists for actualization of an outcome, that is, for overcoming of some Inertia. The Inertia that Love overcomes? A mind that does not function right. This is of extreme importance, namely, God asserts to us that it is Love that fixes the mind, that produces soundness of mind.

The Holy Spirit is the Power for actualization of ‘soundness of mind’ in man. The Force that is produced by the Holy Spirit for achievement of the outcome is the ‘Love of God’.

Suppose then, we refer to the Holy Spirit as ‘Spirit of Jesus’, but maintain description of The Holy Spirit? Well, as already developed, nothing would change, for a name has meaning only in context of its underlying description.

Consider, however, that the term, ‘Holy Spirit’ is not a name, is itself, a description. The reason The Father does not name The Holy Spirit?

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).”

“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify me, for He will take of what is mine and declare it to you (John 16:13–14).”

“Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you (John 14:7).”

The Holy Spirit only is described, not named, because The Father only can have one name that is above every other name, and that name is, and only can be the Name of Jesus. The Holy Spirit is sent to glorify the Name and Person of Jesus.

It is because The Lord Jesus Christ never again will live on earth that The Holy Spirit is sent to glorify His Name and Person.

he Holy Spirit being sent to ‘Helps Us’, and The Holy Spirit not having a name means, Apostle Matthew rightly and to the glory of The Father can have his gospel titled, ‘The Gospel According to Matthew’.

Turns out The Gift most important for actualization of the Life and Love of our Lord Jesus Christ on earth comes only with a description, not a name.

The Power then, of Description.
