It is Time for the USA to Grow and Lighten Up

Eleven years ago, specifically in 2013, Edward Snowden, a CIA contractor revealed documents which implicated that the USA’s National Security Agency (NSA) had, for upwards of 10 years, been listening on the erstwhile German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conversations with other world leaders on her phone. Whereas the NSA would, as expected, not confess to the eavesdropping (duh), it did acknowledge that, as part of it’s engagement with the forestalling of terrorism, it engages in spying all over the world (if they denied the concept, would we believe?). If then it eavesdropped on Chancellor Merkel’s phone, it was with the objective of ascertaining whether anyone else was listening in on her sensitive communications.

If it is true that experts can pick up the presence of another device that is listening in on a third party’s conversations, however wrong the action, still feasibly the NSA’s eavesdropping could be asserted to have been premised on ‘noble motives’, namely the protection of the transatlantic union between the USA and NATO.
