Is the American dream a lie or is there an attempt to hijack it for the few and the connected?

Part of the problem in America I think is confusion of secularism with abandonment of foundational values.

Muslims, Atheists, Buddhists, Agnostics, Pantheists etc. in America should be able to self actualize just as Christians. But does that mean Christian foundations of our country should be abandoned to the point where it is Christians who are afraid to speak up in society about their beliefs? Does this not imply America has lost its way? When the Buddhist is liberal but the Christian bigoted, America has lost its way.

I hope Trump turns out a good President at the end of the day.

One thing he is doing though: he is, more than any of recent Presidents, acting like he is proud to be a Christian. Obama was wishy-washy as a Christian, the younger Bush was mainly evangelical as in a war hawk, Clinton was mostly a secular Christian, personal failings aside, perhaps the most Christian prior to Trump. None of these past Presidents put on the Christian badge the way Trump has started out.

Trump is not perfect and perhaps he has ideologies he needs to reexamine, ideologies represented in his business.

It is in all of our interests to pray he succeeds in his capacity as President of the United States of America.

Let us hope that Trump’s belligerence ultimately is for the good of America.
