I used to give one clap as my baseline minimum, meaning I read the entire article and I liked something in it. I did not have to agree with the author, it was as simple as I appreciated say the literary style or some nugget in the article.

But then I found out that as a writer, I did not enjoy getting just one clap on an article. That realization made me change my clapping rule where now I do not give less than two claps on any article, and now have given as much as 50 claps to an article. I guess I got a lesson in empathy. But then again it means I have a soul, which is a good thing.

My clapping rule remains in flux in the sense that I still have yet to settle on a minimum. Five claps sounds reasonable as a minimum I dare say, with two claps perhaps too close to one clap for real comfort.

I love to get claps on my blog articles. Responses that are not troll responses I cherish.
