I guess we all should just abstract away from all of the religious and spiritual stories for Eve and adopt the mathematical rationale.

The mathematical rationale is less contentious and for all practical purposes is sufficient.

Historians by the way agree on an original literal Eve. Perhaps they know more mathematics than we give them credit for.
