I assume there is a choice of words problem here because it is irrational for a brilliant person to not want to avoid mistakes. If brilliant people tackle difficult problems and make minuscule mistakes, should society denigrate them for moving us forward albeit imperfectly? At best, the statement raises a spectre with which every innovator ought to be uncomfortable.
