Ezinne, yes there is racism in America and yes there is a need to discuss racism. My questions are:

How much talking is too much talking about the negativity of racism?

Also, to what extent does talking about racism obviate issues that obtain within the black community?

Mentors within black communities sometimes are blindsided by their mentees. Sometimes Mentees who are doing their best to please are set up to fail by mentors who are afraid a mentee’s legacy will exceed theirs.

If blacks who are not making excuses by working hard and working smart undermine each other under the rubric

there is only enough for one of us,

the white man is the least of our problems.

I currently am not in America but I have four children — three boys and one girl, all teenagers — that are American citizens and are navigating life in America. I lived in America for 14 years and remain resident.

The damage blacks do within the black community itself perhaps is greater than effect of racism on the black community.

Rhetoric will not change this game.

I am not asking you to stop what you are doing, but if you are after truth, this truth also needs to be confronted in writing.

Courage. Peace. Love.
