Clearly, it would be naive to state that a church’s teachings or traditions do not matter.

Such a statement is tantamount to the assertion that there does not exist any difference between faith in Jesus Christ and teachings of Islam, or Buddha, with outcome it becomes irrational to have any sort of ‘spiritual’ faith.

Clearly then, the quality of our experience of God never can be dissociated from rightness (inherent truthfulness) of our approach to God.

That being said, the essence of relationship with God is Love, for God is Love. If Love is found in a local church, that is the most important essence of church. If a local church truly is characterized by Love, whatever is imperfect can be, and is perfected over time.
