A call to living by kindness, justice, and mercy is important. Kindness is different from mercy because while mercy implies some commutation of aspects of justice, kindness is about not demanding perfection from others as precondition for treating them right, as in for instance the capacity for forgiveness. So we are kind in presence of imperfections, just and merciful in dealing with intentional offense.
Understanding how to live by kindness, justice, and mercy on a consistent daily basis is part of the challenge of Christianity.
